SOHIP Project Details
Project Background
The Systems-Oriented Health Investment Project is designed to strengthen health systems in Pakistan within the context of devolution. The planned outcome result for SOHIP is “strengthened management and accountability systems for effective delivery of gender-sensitive, pro-poor health services integrating prevention and health promotion in Punjab province, as demonstrated in selected districts.”
SOHIP is designed to work at three levels:
- the District level, where activities are concentrated in two demonstration districts selected with DoH guidance: Mianwali in the north-western part of the province and Pakpattan in the south-east;
- the Provincial level, focusing on support to key programs and sections within the Department of Health but also involving the Department of Population Welfare; and
- the Inter-District level, to enhance the exchange of information, ideas and innovations across the districts of Punjab.

- Work Packages are designed to achieve project objectives and are results-oriented general project foci: not activities in themselves.
- Each year detailed annual work plans with concrete activities are to be developed within these general project foci.
